Upcycle: Shorts

I had a spare moment the other day and wished that I had cute shorts that were dressy. Those are really in right now (and I'm super hip). I had an old pair of pants that a friend gave me that would be excellent for the occasion. If you want to make it yourself then any pair of pants you have will work!

1. Cut shorts to desired length.
2. Somehow finish the edges (I used my serger but you can use a zigzag stitch or even pinking shears.)
3. Roll the hem up 1/4".
4. Tack the hem up using a blind stitch (done by hand). You catch only a bit of the threads from the fabric on the outside. This should not be visible from the outside of the garment.

Then wear it!

I was bored last night and had done homework all day. So what did I do?! I took a dress and made it into a shirt.

My friend gave me this dress so I didn't even have to spend money on buying one. It was just a bit too short for me to wear as a dress so I cut some of the bottom off and used the leftover fabric as sleeves. Then I just hemmed it up and I was done in less than an hour!
