Upcycle: Shorts

I had a spare moment the other day and wished that I had cute shorts that were dressy. Those are really in right now (and I'm super hip). I had an old pair of pants that a friend gave me that would be excellent for the occasion. If you want to make it yourself then any pair of pants you have will work!

1. Cut shorts to desired length.
2. Somehow finish the edges (I used my serger but you can use a zigzag stitch or even pinking shears.)
3. Roll the hem up 1/4".
4. Tack the hem up using a blind stitch (done by hand). You catch only a bit of the threads from the fabric on the outside. This should not be visible from the outside of the garment.

Then wear it!

Volunteering and a Grad Carnival

Wednesday afternoon I signed up to help pass out cap and gowns to those who are graduating at my school. Then after that, because I volunteered, I got a pass to go to the grad carnival. Great day? Yes yes it was. Love me my free food.

Sweater and Top: Nordstrom. Shorts: Garage Sale.

My friends like to call me Aunt Sam when I wear this outfit. But hey! I can't help being patriotic!
Also while passing out the cap and gowns it made me think about graduation. I feel like I just started school, but in a year from now I will be graduating already. WEIRD!
